Yes! We bring our underwater camera on every tour and provide beautiful photos of the whole experience. You’ll be able to download your photos immediately after the tour!

Early morning is typically the best time to snorkel on Maui! The ocean is typically at its calmest in the morning, with clearer smoother water and less wind. As the day goes on, the trade winds often pick up, which can create more waves and choppy water. For the most comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend getting in the water earlier in the day- especially for beginners and non-swimmers.

Yes! We provide all of the equipment you need to have an awesome time out in the reef! We will provide you with a mask and snorkel, fins, a fitted wetsuit (up to size 4X) to keep you warm, as well as various flotation devices to help you feel comfortable and confident in our beautiful ocean.

Not at all! At Snorkel Off the Beach Maui we specialize in working with people who do not know how to swim. We provide all safety and flotation devices. We even provide one-on-one float-coaching in waist-deep water to help non-swimmers gain confidence before the snorkel tour begins. Non-swimmers will be holding onto a float. Your guide will always be right by your side, towing you around through the reef. You just focus on your breath - we will guide the rest!

Our snorkel tours begin in shallow waist deep water. We start slowly and go at your pace to make sure that everyone in the group feels safe and comfortable at all times!

All you need to bring is sunscreen, beach towels and water - we supply everything else!

Absolutely! We have developed a great system for safely taking non-swimmers snorkeling. The swimmers in the group can just swim right along with us! Our experiences are fully customizable and are tailored to your group’s comfort level. Regardless of swimming abilities, everyone is sure to have a blast out there in one of our magical Maui reefs!

Approximately 2 hours including the time it takes for a safety briefing on the beach, snorkeling in the reef and transferring your photos after the tour. We find most guests enjoy snorkeling for about an hour. But, we are always happy to spend some extra time out in the reef with our mermaids and mermen!

All snorkeling tours are off-the-beach- there is NO BOAT involved in this experience! Snorkeling location is chosen based on where ocean conditions are calmest and safest on the day of your tour. All tours are run on the west side of the island of Maui. We will be in touch with you the day before your tour to provide you with all instructions and meeting location details!

It’s very likely that we will see Hawaiian green sea turtles during our tour! We are very good at finding those cute turtles to show our guests, but since they are wild animals, we can never 100 % guarantee that we will see them during the tour. 

We love taking children out snorkeling and seeing their excitement! We have found that our tours are best suited for children 5 years of age and older. If you are traveling with a baby or toddler we can take you out individually while one parent stays on the beach with the child.

Many pregnant women have enjoyed snorkeling on our tours! We explore the reef right off the beach, and provide personalized, one-on-one guidance to help you feel comfortable and supported in the water. 

However, every pregnancy is different, so, we recommend checking with your doctor beforehand to make sure that snorkeling is appropriate for you and your pregnancy.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

As a small, single-operator business, every tour is thoughtfully planned, and last-minute changes affect the ability to accommodate other guests and maintain a smooth schedule.

1.) Cancellations made more than 72 hours before your scheduled tour will receive a full refund or an option to reschedule.

2.) Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled tour start time are not eligible for a refund. However, if we have availability, we may offer a one-time rescheduling at our discretion.

3.) Fear, anxiety, or a change of mind on the day of the tour is not a valid reason for a refund. We specialize in working with non-swimmers, beginners and nervous participants, and we’ll support you throughout the entire experience.

4.) Cancellations due to illness or sickness are non-refundable. We recommend that guests consider purchasing travel insurance that may provide coverage for unexpected illness or other unforeseen circumstances. 

5.) Concerns such as fears of marine life or misconceptions related to menstruation and sharks do not qualify for refunds. We ensure safe conditions and will support you throughout.

6.) For the safety of all guests, Snorkel Off the Beach Maui reserves the right to cancel or refuse participation if a guests appears physically unfit to safely participate in the activity or appears intoxicated or impaired. No refund will be provided when participation is refused due to intoxication or impairment.
